Managing Your Stay

Entry and locks

The entry doors are very secure provided that you lock them! This is easily done inside by turning the small handle, which makes unlocking very quick in an emergency, such as fire. The outside light comes on automatically when you approach in the dark. Please remember to lock your keys in the key safe at the end of your stay - just turn the wheel anti-clockwise.

Heating

There is a very high standard of insulation in the barn which is comfortable all year round. The under-floor system driven by an air sourced heat pump (“ASHP”) can be controlled by adjusting the settings on the controllers in each of the sitting areas and each bedroom. These will be pre-set to reasonable temperatures. The ASHP is very efficient but major or frequent adjustments should be avoided. Use the up and down buttons on the small touch screen.

Water heating for the shower rooms and kitchens is via a modern on demand system which does not require a hot water tank.

Cooking

The ovens can be used normally or as micro waves. The left selection switch pops out. The microwave function is the first to be accessed when you turn it clockwise. Tapping the microwave symbol on the screen adjusts the power setting. Please follow normal microwave precautions. Do not put metal into it, other than the baking tray and do not allow anything to touch the sides or door. Normal cooker functions are accessed by turning the switch clockwise to the second point. The temperature can be adjusted via the right hand switch. The induction hobs have different power settings accessible after the on button has been touched.

You may find it convenient to use the dishwashers on the eco setting overnight, but as is apparent from the controls there are many other options. Please put the dishwasher on at the end of your stay.

TV, radio and wifi

There is ultra-fast wifi throughout the barn. Use the QR code or key in Weighbridgebarnguestwifi1 (note-this is case sensitive) to access it. All of the smart TV’s have multiple channels including radio. E.g. Radio 4 is channel 704.

Rubbish

There are two bins within the kitchen units. Please use the plastic liners provided. One bin is for plastic, cardboard and cans (i.e. recyclable items) the other for food and general waste (excluding glass). When full the bags should go in the bins in the bin store in the parking area. The left one is for the cardboard, plastic and the other recyclable stuff. There is a separate outside bin for glass.

Your dog

We are happy to accommodate one well behaved dog per letting. Please do not allow your pet on to any furniture of leave him/her on their own in what will be an unfamiliar environment. A well ventilated car could be used. Please bring a towel to eliminate any muddy paw problems.

The terrace

Feel free to use this area for refreshments and relaxation. If half of the barn is let to others it is suggested that the table next to the Stable End should be used by those renting it. You may smoke on the terrace.

FIRE RISK

As well as being smoke free, please keep the barn flame free (no matches or candles). Please do not bring any sizeable lithium batteries into the barn (such as from an ebike). In the unlikely event of a fire the alarm should sound. Get everyone out of the building and well away from it (e.g. at the far end of the parking area). Then ring the fire brigade. Very small fires can be tackled by the fire blanket or extinguisher if you are entirely confident about their use.

For a copy of the fire certificate, see this link.

Weighbridge end features

The utility room next to the entrance door contains a washing machine and separate dryer which are primarily for the housekeeper but you are welcome to use. The vacuum cleaner, ironing board and iron are kept there. If you use the dryer please carefully empty any collected water from the container in the top left corner of the appliance.

There are cushions for the wooden outside chairs kept in the utility room.

Stable end features

The vacuum cleaner, iron and laundry bag are in the long wicker basket behind the sofa. The ironing board is in the wardrobe. If you are renting the whole barn, by special request the sofa can be converted into a very comfortable 5ft wide bed and used as such for the duration of your stay. This room then becomes a third bedroom- additional privacy can be achieved by closing the outside shutter. Both shower rooms are accessible without going into the adjacent bedrooms.

The washing machine and dryer is within the range of kitchen units.

There are cushions for the outside chairs inside the sofa footrest.

The blind over the bedroom skylight is operated by the hand held controller next to the bed.
